Suzuki LT80 / Kawasaki KFX80 to 300EX Dual A-arms & Shocks Suspension Conversion Kit

DISCLAIMER: This kit was previously discontinued due to customer complaints of added bump steer. The kit has been re-continued with limited-quantity due to high demand. This is the same kit as before and may result in added bump-steer due to upgraded suspension size.

(This kit is also compatible with the nearly identical Kawasaki KFX80)

There is nothing more exciting to the Suzuki mini-quad owner than what this kit allows you to do! This kit is “Quad Rodding” at its best! This is an awesome upgrade to the suspension, and a lot of fun to put all the pieces together. Below we will list all of the 300ex components you will need to complete the conversion.

This kit comes complete with hardware shown and detailed, full color mounting instructions are available on our website.

The kit will allow you to mount 250EX or 300EX shocks (stock or aftermarket) on your LT80. You can also use stock or aftermarket shocks from a Yamaha Blaster and many other ATV’s with shocks between 9 and 14 inches in length with 3/8” diameter (10mm) mounting holes.

Most owners are unhappy with the stock performance of the LT80 suspension, especially for a small rider. Like other small ATV’s, the jarring nature of the stock suspension can cause young riders to sometimes lose control. We do have a lower priced kit for the LT80 that allows for much more suspension travel, and also makes the quad wider and more stable. This kit does this too, but with the dual a-arms and disk brakes, it takes the suspension to an incredible level far above anything available to any quad smaller than a 250. This is a SERIOUS UPGRADE, you will be impressed!

This kit includes all of the conversion components to be able to use the complete suspension and brake system from a 300ex. The shock conversion kit to relocate the top shock mounts is also included to make this a complete package (all that is needed are the 300ex components listed below).

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR OTHER KITS TO FIND A WHEEL CONVERSION KIT TO ALLOW YOU TO MOUNT 400EX WHEELS AND TIRES ON YOUR LT80. This kit will also allow you to use our wheel spacers on the rear that are designed for the bigger Suzuki ATV’s. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO WIDEN THE REAR END, WHILE ENHANCING OTHER ASPECTS AT THE SAME TIME (LARGER TIRES ALSO IMPROVE THE RIDE OF THE ATV BY ADDING MORE CUSHION). YOU WILL ALSO FIND KITS FOR 250EX‘s, 300EX’s AND 400EX’s.

The overall width increase in the front is about 8 inches with this kit installed. We also now sell Custom Aluminum Rear Wheel Spacers! Check them out, they are unlike any other spacers on the market. When combined with our rear wheel adapters for the TRX90, you can use those aluminum wheel spacers to widen the quad and convert to 110mm bolt patterns to accept 400ex and other popular wheels. The perfect setup is the 300ex components in front, with 400ex rear wheels and tires and our 2″ rear wheel spacers.

There are a couple of reasons we fitted this kit for the 300EX components instead of 400EX components. First, the 400EX components are in stronger demand (nearly twice as expensive) because they are used for upgrading 300EX’s and aging 250R’s. The 400EX components are also considerably larger and an even more extreme upgrade for a mini-quad. Even though the 400EX components will fit, we found that the 300EX components just look and work like they belong on the LT80. The ultimate race setup would be to use all of the stock 300EX components except for adjustable “WORKS” 300EX shocks that you could tune exactly to your rider’s weight and driving style.

We want to make this as easy as possible for you, so we have listed all of the Honda 300EX components you will need (they are grouped to match how they are generally listed in eBay auctions, and the prices we’ve even listed what we paid for our two sets so you can get an idea of the cost and help you know when you see a good deal):

  • A set of upper and lower A-arms ($49 & $67)
  • Left-hand and right-hand brake calipers (usually sold separately) ($21 & $18; $20 & $16)
  • Front brake lever, master cylinder and brake lines ($27 &  $24)
  • Front spindles, hubs & rotors ($34 & $28)
  • 300ex or 400ex tie rod ends ($21 & $20)
  • 400ex tie rods (you can possibly get them with the tie rod ends included)
  • 300ex shocks ($75 & $81)
  • front wheels and tires from a 250EX, 300EX, 400EX or 450R ($89 & $104)

For us, this came to a total of $334 for the first set of components, and $360 for our second set.  Keep in mind, you will be able to sell the stock components you take off of your LT80 to offset some of the cost.  Many customers have told us that they purchased all of the other components for less than $250.

We have sold hundreds of these kits, and they ARE designed and used for the harsh conditions of motocross and GNCC racing.  They have been designed to make them as easy to assemble and strong as possible for the demanding conditions they need to survive. We will continue to test and improve these kits, and we appreciate all of the photos and positive comments that have poured in from customers (keep them coming, along with your comments on how you think they can be further improved). The unique design of the mount brackets allows the kit to bolt up to the ATV without removing any of the stock components, including the supports for the front fenders.  We do have a picture of a possible small modification that might need to be made on the 2006 and later LT80’s front fender mounts.

– This kit requires no cutting or welding, and can be installed in a weekend for a typical home mechanic.  For us, this is the most fun part, because it adds such a custom look to the quad, and puts you in the “custom bike builder” role.

– SPECIAL NOTE FOR 2006 & LATER MODELS!  The plastic fenders are attached differently starting in 2006, so you will need to grind a little bit on the small fender L-brackets, and redrill the hole that they mount through. A picture is included in the instructions to help you with the details. Let us know if you have questions (via email).

– All the mounting hardware shown is included (components bullet-listed above not included). The hardware uses nylon insert-collar lock nuts to resist vibration and prevent loosening of the assemblies. We’ve never had to retighten a piece of hardware on any of these kits even after running motocross races for months.

All kits come powder coated gloss black. Color choice is not available, but other colors can be painted or powder coated by the customer over the gloss black finish. Kit components go through a seven stage chemical dip cleaning process, electro-statically dipped in black primer, baked, then powder coated and baked again to a super high-strength gloss-black finish.

We are thrilled with the performance of this kit, and excited that so many others have enjoyed it as well. You won’t be disappointed!!! As you can see from our feedback, these kits are for real, and we are very fair & honest people to work with!! Send us pictures of your ATV after you have installed it so we can include it on our website galleries.

The goal of Diamond J Customs is to develop and offer products that add performance to the ATV without the enormous price tag found on other ATV aftermarket products. We do this by designing kits that will allow use of as many stock components as possible, and allow you to mount higher performing parts from other ATV’s on your model.
